Parent Testimonial - May 2020 - The R. K. Familiy

When we arrived in Guatemala in 2016, it was the first time that we blended our family of six children and we wanted a school where the children would not only receive a stellar education, but one that would look after their emotional well being too. We visited several schools, but ultimately chose Equity because of how thoroughly they had paid attention to our application and our desires in a school. The school more than met our high expectations: the teachers have all been wonderful, caring, attentive and truly interested in the education, moral and academic, of our children. The principals of both the lower and upper schools were extremely responsive to our needs and sought cooperative solutions that worked for everyone when issues with the kids inevitably came up.

Other than the caring and educational atmosphere of the school, there were several other benefits and traditions that we came to treasure. The International Fair gave our entire family the opportunity to learn about other countries, the Sharing Times gave each of our children the experience of speaking in front of an audience, the concerts and Thanksgiving celebrations allowed our children to share their work with us proudly, showing us their accomplishments and progress, and the Spring Program cemented everything they had learned in a joyful celebration at the end of the year. Even the Award Ceremonies left each of our children uplifted and confident to start school the next year.

We will miss Equity greatly, and remember with fondness our four years at this wonderful school.

Parent Testimonial - May 2020 - The A. Familiy

We had one child at Equity for three years (K-2), and my other child joined in our last year in Guatemala for her Kindergarten year. We have had a positive experience with Equity American School. Our children have loved going to the school’s library each week and checking books out.

I absolutely love that the principal will send home a book as a gift for reaching reading goals and for their birthday. Our children have enjoyed their Spanish/Art, Physical Education, and Computers classes every week. Their classroom teachers have been kind and nurturing.

I love how the school puts out a weekly email with announcements and highlights on school events. I love how they send a detailed email each quarter with what each class/grade is going to cover. If I had a question at any time the school and/or teacher was quick to respond via email or phone call.

Equity provides awesome field trip opportunities like the Children’s Museum, the Zoo, DiverCity, a farm day, and an end of year pool day. We are happy that we chose Equity American School for our daughters.

Parent Testimonial - June 2020 - The Wingles

Seconds into our orientation tour at Equity American School, we knew we had found the perfect school for our family in Guatemala. Equity’s genuine warmth and love for children has always been so evident.

Equity’s U.S. accreditation, exemplary academic standards, low student-teacher ratios, and keen understanding of the unique challenges facing transient diplomatic families were critical selection factors. However, what really sets Equity apart is its strong emphasis on positive social value development in tandem with academics. Equity leadership creates a well-integrated, family-like bond between the students, teachers, parents, and all of the Equity staff. Open, honest communication is always encouraged at all levels, so any issue or concern is immediately addressed and resolved with the utmost transparency and compassion.

Security in Guatemala is a legitimate concern. Equity’s diligent use of protective personnel and physical security to keep our children safe at the school building, during field trips, and in-transit from home has exceeded our expectations.

A huge perk has been having Guatemalan National Symphony Orchestra members serve as the children’s music professors. Equity does a wonderful job celebrating each child’s unique talents and personalities during their vibrant community showcases throughout the year. Equity’s integration of music and culture into the curriculum has really helped our children develop their sense of expression and self-confidence.

Equity played a vital role bolstering our family's optimism and sense of stability during the COVID-19 crisis. Equity immediately instituted an excellent on-line learning environment which allowed the children to meet all of their curriculum objectives and stay connected. Equity lovingly supported the school community in processing confusion and frustration so that we could approach the crisis as a growth opportunity to strengthen our resilience and adaptability.

We will always be grateful to Equity for being a wonderful home away from home.

Teacher Testimonial - July 2020 - Leslie Nanne

 LeslieNanne090720

The above Letter is from Leslie Nanne, who worked seven years as our Art Teacher at EAS.  She left to attend her family’s coffee Farm in June 2020.  But our relationship with Leslie and her family runs a little deeper than her seven years sharing her talents with our students.  Leslie’s cousin, Jennifer of the same age, graduated with honors from EAS in May 2007.  Jennifer went on to study, marry and rear her family in the U.S.

Parent Testimonial - February 2021 - The Cáceres

Testimonial of Luz y Alberto Cáceres, parents of Amanda, who moved to Mexico.

We would like to share with you a recognition that Amanda received in her new school in Mexico and we are convinced that Equity American School is a fundamental part of this award.

We are very pleased that Amanda has adjusted very well and is happy in her new school and of course, we also are very proud of her accountability, determination and kindness. We wish you all of you at EAS the best and we thank you for creating this magnificent school, an oasis of values where you empower the talents of our children to become excellent human beings: determined and compassionate!!! The entire Equity staff have impacted many families and inspired us to be better people.
